Shortcuts
You can use keyboard shortcuts to quickly accomplish many tasks in Detail for Mac. To use a keyboard shortcut, press all the keys in the shortcut at the same time.
Detail comes with many pre-assigned shortcuts, but you can also customise these to suit your workflow. Go to to Detail > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts in the app to set your own.
Scene set up
Below is a list of shortcuts that make it easier to create scenes, including adding cameras and screens, and editing overlays.
- Open camera drawer
⌘ + ⇧ + C - Enable / disable blur
⌘ + Shift ⇧ + B - Open screen share drawer
⌘ + ⇧ + S - Open filter drawer
⌘ + ⇧ + F - Open image overlays
⌘ + ⇧ + I - Open text overlays
⌘ + ⇧ + T - Copy text/image overlay
⌘ + C - Paste text/image overlay
⌘ + V - Select all text
⌘ + A - Confirm image / text overlays
Enter - Dismiss image / text overlays without saving changes
Escape - Open the emoji keyboard
⌘ + Ctrl + Space - Select the previous / next scene
⌘ + Left / Right Arrows - Delete the currently selected scene

Recording
Below is a list of shortcuts you can use while recording.
- Start / stop recording
⌥ + Space - Switch scenes
Numbers 0 to 9 - Mute / unmute audio
⌘ + ⇧ + M
Editing
Below is a list of shortcuts you can use when editing recorded footage in the timeline.
- Play / pause your video in the timeline
Space - Make a cut in the timeline
X - Changes the source scene of the clip under the playhead
Numbers 0 to 9 - Make a cut at the playhead and replace the source scene of the clip after the playhead
⌥ + Numbers 0 to 9 - Nudge your playhead forward and backward on the timeline
Left / Right Arrows - Delete the selected clip
Delete - Delete the currently selected scene
⌘ + Delete - Toggle between previous / next clips
Up / Down Arrows - Undo
⌘ + Z - Redo
⌘ + ⇧ + Z - Zoom in / out
⌘ + +/-
Menu actions
Below is a list of shortcuts for actions you can find in the menu bar.
- New project
⌘ + N - New blank project
⌘ + ⇧ + N - Composition guides
⌘ + ⇧ + G - Watermark
⌘ + ⇧ + W - Delete all scenes
⌘ + ⇧ + R - Zoom in / out
⌘ + +/-
Global shortcuts
As well as these shortcuts that work when the app is active in the foreground, you can create global shortcuts. Global shortcuts are customizable and can be triggered even when the app is not active. Global shortcuts always need a modifier key (eg ⌥ or ⌘ or ⇧ ).
